Dr Alexander Thun becomes Director E-Commerce at Lekkerland2. June 2015
On 15 May, Dr Alexander Thun (44) has been taking over the management of the newly created department of Corporate E-Commerce at Lekkerland AG & Co. KG. The holder of a doctorate in business management, Dr Thun will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of the e-commerce and digital activities of the entire Lekkerland Group. In the role of Director Corporate E-Commerce, he will report directly to Patrick Steppe, Chief Sales Officer of Lekkerland AG & Co. KG. “We are delighted that, with Dr Alexander Thun’s appointment, we have been able to acquire an experienced manager for this important and responsible position,” said Patrick Steppe. “With his diverse expertise, he will significantly drive forward the expansion of our online offering and activities.”
E-commerce expert Dr Alexander Thun brings with him extensive expertise in sales, marketing and management – both online and offline. After studying business management and earning his doctorate in the chair for business information systems, he began his professional career at the first internet start-up of Bertelsmann AG. That was followed by positions as Head of Marketing at the online pharmacy DocMorris and managing director of Dentina, a subsidiary of the Henry Schein Group. Most recently he built up a mail order business for health products at Burda Digital, including an e-commerce platform.
Digital ordering channels gaining ground
Webshops are an indispensable part of B2B trade as these simplify the day-to-day work of shop operators enormously. Consequently, Lekkerland operates several web portals for customers across the Group, for example Lekkerland24.de in Germany. Together with his team, Dr Alexander Thun will drive forward the further expansion of the Webshops into information, transaction and communication platforms and, in doing so, will work closely with the national subsidiaries of the Lekkerland Group. The objective is for customers not only to submit orders via the Webshop, but also to be able to file complaints, view the delivery status or invoices, and to receive support in developing sales promotion measures.
