Freedom to innovate: Lekkerland relies on the Microsoft Cloud with Office 365

The Lekkerland Group has set itself the goal of being the preferred 360-degree concept provider for all aspects of the convenience business and provides its customers across Europe with tobacco products, food to-go, snacks, drinks and electronic value. With the switch to the Microsoft Cloud solution Office 365, the company from Frechen (near Cologne) is now taking a further step towards contemporary productivity and digitalisation: at the start of the year, Lekkerland began to transfer the working environment of around 2,500 employees to the Microsoft Cloud. In doing so, the company is using all the features of Office 365, thereby creating the freedom for innovations and mobile working.
“Lekkerland is one of the first companies in Germany that has fully rolled out Office 365 as a cloud solution,” commented Alain Genevaux, head of the Office business at Microsoft Germany. “We know how important harmonious, standardised and stable IT operations are in day-to-day business for retailing companies. That is why we are relieving our clients of as much work as possible through our cloud solutions – with high levels of flexibility in handling the application and reliable operation with a global uptime of 99.999 per cent.”
The cloud is the success factor for mobile and flexible working
“The technical requirements for our digitalisation course are getting better and better,” explained Christian Grotowsky, Senior Vice President Corporate IT at Lekkerland and Managing Director of Lekkerland information systems (Lis). “What is crucial is that we select the appropriate tools in order to successfully drive forward the transformation.” From Lekkerland’s perspective, the most important success factor is facilitating mobile, flexible - and therefore efficient – work using cloud-based solutions. This provides employees with the freedom they need to develop new services and offerings for the company’s customers.
The IT subsidiary Lis also benefits from the efficiency gain: updates and security patches for Office 365 are automatically installed from the cloud; manual updates are no longer required. IT employees use the time saved to drive forward innovative IT applications.
Office 365 offers digital communication and collaboration for employees and partners
The new working environment offers all employees of the Lekkerland Group modern and entirely digitally designed communication processes, as well as internal and external collaboration – via SharePoint Online, Skype for Business or the group chat software Microsoft Teams. “We must fulfil our claim of being the preferred partner for all on-the-go consumption channels each day in our collaboration with our customers and partners,” said Christian Grotowsky. “Digital tools such as documents and files shared in our teams support us in doing so.” Furthermore, working in the cloud facilitates access to the work environment from anywhere in the world and from any end device – with unrestricted data security and without cumbersome connection establishments.
